Playing with a bassist like Brad Miller, an old friend of Dave’s, is fantastic too. I think we’d both say we’ve influenced each other to make choices musically that we’d never done as individuals in our previous projects. Dave actually made me pick up a guitar again, for the first time in 20 years. Dave and I never wrote together before this, but I’ve always been in awe of his ability as a guitarist and songwriter. If we take it back to your earlier point on writing a song a day, how’d you find your sound progressed over that time? Work hard, be ready and don’t ever say no. I’ve been told no and failed many more times than I’ve succeeded, but I’ve succeeded enough to know that luck is usually preparation meeting opportunity. It comes down to self-love, resilience, courage and survivor instinct. Identify what you want and use your practical and spiritual skills to get it.

It’s the art of creating change with your will. There was no social media when I started all this, so things have changed, but there are still a lot of great opportunities out there for the individual with a dream. That started my publishing career, and now, I’ve written more than a dozen books. I’d been practising witchcraft all those years, so I started writing about it. We had a dream run, and when it ended, I started writing books. We played with Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, No Doubt, and blink-182. We toured the world and released songs that went to number one. CHEERSQUAD’s going to re-release some of that music next year.ĭave and I met in the 80s when he had his band, The Hellmenn. In the 80s, I had my all-girl punk band called The Mothers. I’ve done all this because I never had kids and raised a family (laughs). You’ve lived such an interesting life – musician, pilot, witch. And now, here we are practising witchcraft freely because of the sacrifices of the witches in ages past, who were hung and burned to death. Witches were the original healers and spiritual guides – the world needs them now more than ever. This song, in particular, is about resilience, courage, and survival. I referenced my own Book of Shadows, a witches record of her magical practice, as content for our songs. He said, let’s do heavy rock together and put your spells and rituals into it as lyrics. What’s the story behind Witches Forever ? We’d love to hear about how your practice of witchcraft inspired it. In a nutshell, through the crazy bad of COVID, the crazy good that is Seawitch formed. And incredibly, we could still make music because we were behind the closed state border.

So when Dave reached out, he invited me to Western Australia, where it was safe and quiet. In the 90s, I was in Def FX and did a lot of big stuff, but I hadn’t made music for a long time since. He convinced me to come to Western Australia from the other side of the world and make music. Dave and I reunited for the first time in 30 years, got into a music studio and decided to write a song a day while in iso.
